Short read from WIP on growing up in medieval England. So much has changed, but one thing hasn't: life still fucking sucks.
Hey, if you're European, are broadly of European descent, or grew up in one of those kinds of countries, did you know you are actually fluent in a secret language called Interlingua? It reads like me being really drunk and trying to speak Spanish.
Here's a compilation video of some TV preacher paired with fart sounds. An internet classic, and I'm just now finding it. Wonderful.
The town of Geel in Belgium is known as a model for psychiatric care where residents with severe psychiatric conditions live not as patients, but as boarders with host families. It has a long-standing tradition, with it starting from a church in Geel whose patron saint is Saint Dymphna, the patron of mental health professionals and those struggling with mental illness. As more established readers know, I suffer from bipolar disorder; my older sister also has autism and an intellectual disability. I think a lot about our future and what it'll look like once our parents are gone, and things like this give me reassurance that we'll be okay. The Lord loves us very much, and I know He will provide for us as we become older. The virtue and compassion of others extends so much farther beyond what I can perceive, and I know that even when I suffer from the ailments I have, that Christ is greater. May He have mercy on us.
