A series of scribbles from my many notebooks.

The tenant jostles his keys. The landlord must have changed the locks again. He goes to the landlord’s door to ask why he keeps changing the locks. His rent is always paid, first of the month. As the tenant knocks on the door, his landlord screams at him from inside.
"This is the last time I’m doing this! Never come back here!"
The tenant sighs and goes back to his door. He knows that dementia has made him an angry man. It will be okay and hopefully he will remember again tomorrow.

A small teacup sits atop a windowsill as the wind sways the trees outside. It’s quiet in this old house, but it’s home for the teacup. Nothing has happened for the past few days. The house sits still except for the occasional whirling of the air conditioner. The ground begins to shake. It starts slowly, but over the next few seconds becomes more intense. The teacup begins to shimmy closer and closer to the edge of the windowsill, shaking.
It falls to the ground, but it’s okay. It was just a teacup.

A large oak tree stood proudly in our family’s backyard. I remember being a kid, climbing the oak tree so I could see the streets from above. Ever since REDACTED, things just haven’t been the same. But I had to go back to the old house just to see that old tree again.
I pulled into our driveway and entered the house and walked through to the backyard and a stump stood in the tree’s place.
I approached the stump and sat on it.

She saw a billboard that said "Gun Show" on the way home. All she could think of was the yellow tape surrounding his school.

When he swallowed the pills, he noticed that she forgot her toothbrush on the counter.
